44th Independence Day Celebrations in Murambinda
His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa will led the 44th Independence Day Celebrations at Murambinda B High School, in Murambinda Manicaland Province . This year’s celebrations are themed, “Zim @44: Unity, Peace and Development Towards Vision 2030”
Projects in Manicaland Province:
• His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa commissioned Sabi Star Lithium Mine in Buhera District.
• In Chimanimani District, Chikwizi Clinic, Nhedziwa Vegetable Market, Mhandarume Clinic, Kwirire classroom block and Shinja Footbridge, among other projects, were commissioned.
• 63 boreholes drilled under the Presidential Borehole Scheme.
• Chisuma,Mutema High School Chiduku-Tikwiri and Chitemene irrigation schemes were established.
• Launch of Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets in several schools.
• Rusape Town Council recieved a fire tender that was purchased from Belarus by Government.
• His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa commissioned the Verify Engineering Medical Oxygen and Gas Plant that was established at Feruka in Mutare.
• Mutasa District witnessed the commissioning of a number of health and educational facilities.
• In Nyanga District Rwenya Bridge, which links Manicaland and Mashonaland East provinces were commissioned.
• The National potato farming project was also launched in Nyanga.
• A number of schools across the province commissioned New classroom blocks.
Murambinda town and the Province of Manicaland hold a special place in the country’s history,inked by blood, a history that culminated in Uhuru on April 18, 1980.At the tail-end of the country’s liberation struggle, when the embers of the gruelling war were dying after the defeat of the minority settler colonial regime, thousands of freedom fighters were assembled at Dzapasi/Foxtrot, here in Buhera, waiting for elections that ushered in majority rule.
The independence flame left Harare on 12 April for Manicaland province where it was lit at Magamba/Butcher site in Rusape. Magamba/Butcher was a Rhodesian slaughter house outside Rusape, where freedom fighters and innocent men, women and children who supported the struggle for independence.
