HE President Mnangagwa officially opens the 8th Ordinary Meeting of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) in Vic Falls
His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa officially opened the 8th Ordinary Meeting of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) Committee of Experts and Council of Ministers 2023 at the Elephant Hills Hotel, Victoria Falls.
The ADPA is an intergovernmental organisation that seeks to strengthen the level of influence African diamond producing countries have on the world diamond market. ADPA has 13 member states which include Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzani, Togo and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe Minister of Mines and Mining Development Hon Winston Chitando was the outgoing ADPA deputy chair and at the conference took over the chairmanship of ADPA from Tanzania Minister of Minerals Doto Biteko. President Emmerson Mnangagwa highlighted that since 75% of Diamonds are mined in Africa, the expectation is that diamond mining and processing sectors significantly contribute to sustainable economic growth of African economies
