HE President Mnangagwa attended the Methodist Church Easter Service

Easter Saturday 2023, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa attended the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Easter service at Jonas Primary School in Seke, Chitungwiza. The service drew congregants from Chitungwiza West, Dzivarasekwa, Harava, Trinity and Seke Circuits.

The theme for the Easter service was Psalm 86, ‘The Lord of Revival and Restoration’. President Mnangagwa being a member of the church and having been baptized in his early life expressed his joy and how it felt like a homecoming to him being amongst his own. In his remarks President Mnangagwa pointed out how the national development philosophy ‘Nyika inovakwa igotongwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa, libusiswe ngabanikazi balo’, is informed by the word of God in Genesis 1vers26 where God gave us dominion over all things.

His Excellency President Mnangagwa further commended the Methodist Church for its multi-disciplinary and sectoral projects being implemented across the country in health, education, humanitarian and social responsibility services. He also called upon churches to elevate the fight against drug and substance abuse in communities. Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Bishop Edmore Chihota briefed media on some of the work being done by the church to complement government efforts towards socio-economic development. He further encouraged other churches to also engage in developmental work in order aid government in its drive towards achieving Vision 2030
